The Symbolism of First United Methodist Church in Anderson

  • Inscribed Panels to the left side of the 12th Street doors
  • The Door Handles that symbolizes the spirit of self-denial and full devotion
  • The Spire above the interseciton of 12th and Jackson
  • Descending Dove recalls the sign at Jesus’ baptism
  • The Fish is a reminder that this is a Christian Church
  • The Triangle and Triquetra used symbol of the Trinity
  • The Chancel Cross is 24 feet long and 13 feet wide
  • The Pulpit and Tester
  • The Baptismal Font recalls the descent of the Holy Spirit when Jesus was baptized by John at the Jordan River
  • The Communion Table
  • The two groups of Candles
  • The Lecturn
  • The Open Book
  • The Organ consists of 55 ranks totaling 3600 pipes and the Choir Loft
